New on Candid: Check-In, Waitlist & Credits - Here's How It Works

We're raising the bar on Candid events - not to add friction, but to make every date night count. Here's what's new and what you need to do.

✅ Check-In: Confirm You're Ready to Date

Gone are the days of buying a ticket and hoping everyone shows. Check-in is how we make sure every seat at the table is filled by someone ready to be present.

Here's the flow:

• 1 hour before your event: you'll receive a reminder notification

• 10 minutes before start time: check-in opens and you'll get a "Check-in is open!" push notification

• Open the Candid app or web, go to your Events tab, and tap "Check In"

• Check-in closes 4 minutes after the event start time

If you don't check in: Your spot is released automatically and your credit is returned to your wallet - no need to contact us.

💡 Make sure push notifications are enabled so you don't miss your window.

👀 Waitlist: Your Standby Spot

Event full? Don't leave - join the waitlist! Here's how it works:

• Join the waitlist from the event listing at any time

• 5 minutes before the event, standby opens and you'll get a push notification

• Navigate to the Events tab on your app

• Tap "Stand By" to confirm you're ready

• Spots open up two ways:

  • A booked user misses check-in → their spot is released → first on the standby list by gender gets in

  • Candid adds seats on the backend when we see balanced demand from both men and women

• Subscribers get priority on the waitlist over pay-per-event users

• If Candid adds seats ahead of time, you're auto-confirmed and notified - no action needed

• You can leave the waitlist at any time, no penalty

💡 Joining the waitlist will hold one credit while you're in the queue. If you don't get in during event check-in, your credit is automatically released back to your wallet.

💳 Credits: Flexible Event Booking

Credits replace one-time ticket purchases and give us a better way to handle changes without the hassle of app store refunds.

• Credits are purchased in-app

• Your credit balance is visible in the top left of the Events tab

• Credits are never lost due to no-shows - if you miss check-in, your credit is automatically returned

• If you decide not to attend, simply don't check in and your credit comes back to you

Already registered for an April event? You're all set. Your credit is applied. Just show up and check in when the time comes.
